Review of Slammed by Colleen Hoover

Slammed by Colleen Hoover
Summary:
Following the unexpected death of her father, 18-year-old Layken is forced to be the rock for both her mother and younger brother. Outwardly, she appears resilient and tenacious, but inwardly, she's losing hope.

Enter Will Cooper: The attractive, 21-year-old new neighbor with an intriguing passion for slam poetry and a unique sense of humor. Within days of their introduction, Will and Layken form an intense emotional connection, leaving Layken with a renewed sense of hope.

Not long after an intense, heart-stopping first date, they are slammed to the core when a shocking revelation forces their new relationship to a sudden halt. Daily interactions become impossibly painful as they struggle to find a balance between the feelings that pull them together, and the secret that keeps them apart.
Review:
“Don't take life too seriously. Punch it in the face when it needs a good hit. Laugh at it.”
“Question everything. Your love, your religion, your passion. If you don't have questions, you'll never find answers.”

“I got schooled this year
by
a

boy.

A boy that I'm seriously, deeply, madly, incredibly, and undeniably in love with.
And he taught me the most important thing of all...

To put the emphasis
On life .”

One star for a beautiful story
Two for the enchanting characters
Three for making the story relate-able
And the fourth for the amazing "slams"....
I'd have given it another but I felt it was missing something
Maybe it was because it was too small?

I hope no one ran away because of the lame slam attempt :P

Ah I do love poetry.. And I loved how the author incorporated it into the book. Slammed is a beautifully written book. What I took away from the book (apart from the obvious) was this, WORDS ARE POWERFUL. They can make a statement, they can make you feel, they can make you laugh and they can break you down. Words are powerful and I believe that if used correctly and effectively it can bring a change in the world!

I can't believe I have written so many poems these past few weeks!
Maybe I'd post one of them here....

Sacrifice by Stacey Rourke Launch Tour: Review and Giveaway!!!

Sacrifice Tour

Being a fan of the Gryphon Series I am obviously excited to be a part of the blog tour! :D

Summary:
Celeste Garrett has finally found a happy balance in her life as the Chosen One, thanks in large part to a certain hunky Irishman. But if there’s any lesson she should heed since receiving her calling it’s that everything can change in the blink of an eye. Soon a terrible new threat, unlike anything she’s ever encountered, causes her to make a gut-wrenching choice that will strip her of someone she holds dear.

As much as she’d like to have a pity party for one, there’s no time for that now because wedding bells are ringing in Gainesboro! In between dress fittings and rehearsal dinners Celeste will have to fend off attacking demons and leering pirates. As if the Dark Army wasn’t scary enough our heroine is faced with the horrifying trauma of attending a bachelorette party with her mom and watching Grams do Jello shots. Is a walk down the aisle even possible for a member of the Garrett family when the Dark Army is out to destroy them? More importantly, will the Dark Army Glee Club sing at the reception?

Raise your glass to the happy couple, and get ready for a wedding…Conduit-style.

Review:

Would you sacrifice someone you love just to keep them safe? Celeste has to make a tough choice; she has been making them on a daily basis since she has been chosen as the Conduit. With even more difficult sacrifices to make and demons that are a whole new level of nasty to defeat will Celeste survive?
And of course there is the wedding. But with the Countess and Dark Army Glee Club, around the corner will the wedding bells chime?
Yet another masterpiece by Stacey Rourke! It is un- put - down able and had me laughing out loud (I’m pretty sure I woke up everyone in my house at one point because of that! :P ). Quirky, witty and funny is Stacey’s forte and she plays it well. Sacrifice was an emotional roller coaster it had me laughing till I couldn't breathe, but it made me cry too... The story just gets better and better with every turn of the page, makes you gasp in shock and wish the ride never ends. This series I’d describe as pick-me-up kinda books, whenever you read it you are bound to smile. But let me tell you the ending had a jaw-dropping effect on me and I REALLY NEEDED the next book... like yesterday!
You must read this series trust me you won't regret it!!!

Review for Hopeless by Colleen Hoover

Hopeless by Colleen Hoover

“The sky is always beautiful. Even when it's dark or rainy or cloudy, it's still beautiful to look at. It's my favourite thing because I know if I ever get lost or lonely or scared, I just have to look up and it'll be there no matter what...and I know it'll always be beautiful.”

“The things that knock you down in life are tests, forcing you to make a choice between giving in and remaining on the ground or wiping the dirt off and standing up even taller than you did before you were knocked down. I'm choosing to stand up taller.”

“Its real, Six. You can't get mad at a real ending. Some of them are ugly. Its the fake happily ever afters that should piss you off.”

(I could probably fill the whole blog post up with the quotes but.. Eh where would I put my review then? :P )

Let me just start by saying I hadn't been excited about a book like I was about this one in a long time. And that was before I was even done with the book. Then I hit that roller coaster point where everything simple went out and spun out of control. When I finally finished this book I had tears in my eyes. Another thing that doesn't happen normally.
Hopeless takes you on a journey - you laugh, you smirk, you wince, you cry and you just feel...

There are so many things that I liked in the book that I'm not sure what to share and what to keep to myself and let those who haven't taken this journey experience for themselves.
Hopeless is not your typical romance where the bad boy falls in love and gets the girl.  It’s more. So much more. It has a certain appeal that I didn't realize before as to what it was. It has vulnerability and it shows that life isn't all that perfect. People aren't always what they seem; they might be broken for all you know. Let me not blabber much because that is what this book made me want to do. It makes me think and maybe, just maybe make me view people differently.
The writing style and I must say about it because it was written in such a way that it was relatable, that the words flew off the pages and it just felt perfect.

I could go on for hours but let me just wrap it up with this...
Sweet, endearing, thought provoking and real... It would be hopeless trying not to like the book! ;)
Don’t forget to check out the Bonus Chapter which is from Holder’s POV... Trust me you will LOVE it!
