Series Review for Creatura Series by Nely Cab

Creatura by Nely Cab
Blurb:
When seventeen year-old Isis Martin is having trouble sleeping due to perturbing dreams of a horrific growling beast, she decides to confront her fear. But what Isis discovers is something other than a menacing entity.

The human-like creature offers Isis assurance that he is not a figment of her imagination. Unwilling to accept his avowal, Isis sets his words to contest by asking the entity to prove himself—a dare, he readily welcomes.

It is in her dreams that Isis innocently stumbles upon the silent existence of the divine lineage of those that man has long forgotten.

In a quaint town, deep in south Texas, this story leads Isis onto the path of impermissible love and captivating life-changing truths. Isis Martin's journey is sure to leave any reader ravenous for more.

Fruit of Misfortune by Nely Cab
Blurb:
Isis' goals for the future included things like attending and graduating college. However, becoming a monster wasn't part of the plan. Isis and her boyfriend, David, are on the brink of a horrible transformation and they are eager to stop it. Together, they set out on a quest to Greece to find Isis' biological father—the only person that may be able to help them. Their journey comes to an abrupt stop before it even begins when Isis falls ill, and Eros, David's best friend, arrives in Athens, unannounced and curious…with a plan of his own.

The hunt for her father leads Isis on the turbulent path of deceit, death, and demons as she anticipates the dawning of the beast that stirs inside her.

Marker of Hope by Nely Cab
Blurb:
Who will save her from herself?
Upon her return from Greece with three new friends and a broken heart, Isis' hunger for human flesh is stronger than ever. She's a miserable mess after losing David following her betrayal. Her mutation into Creatura is all but over when she receives the surprise of her life, compelling her to seek out David's family. Only, they've broken all ties with her, and she doesn't know how to reach them.
Turpis, the demonic beings that attacked Isis in Greece, have tracked her whereabouts. Now, in order to fend for her life, Isis must join forces with deities she doesn't trust.
Is Isis truly the Marker of Hope as she's believed to be, or will she lose the battle to her starving inner beast and demons, obliterating humankind from existence? Find out in the epic finale of the best-selling CREATURA SERIES.

Series Review:

So I've reviewed Creatura like ages back. You can check it out HERE. And I've reviewed the prequel to the series called Prelude as well HERE
Now that those are out of the way. Back to the series review.

So if you've read the review for book one (Creatura) you know I loved it. It was full of romance, mystery and a little bit of mythology. Creatura was so full of promise to be an epic series but for some reason it fell just short of it.

Fruit of Misfortune picked up just after the major cliffhanger in Creatura. It started out great but it didn't really keep up with Creatura. Then it just kind of went down from there. There were some high points in the follow up two books and the plot was intriguing. But there were a few instances and a few things that the books could have avoided.

I think I just went in with a lot of expectations after I read Creatura and that's why I felt that the books let me down a little. It was a really good read. Don't get me wrong. But it wasn't the read I was expecting.

A little underwhelmed.

Prelude Blog Tour - Spotlight, Review and Giveaway!

Prelude: A Creatura Novella by Nely Cab

Blurb:
Prelude – Creatura 0.5

It’s not easy creating life, but that’s what Deus was meant to do. And as amazing as his new creations may be, Deus finds that there’s nothing wonderful about being the only person in existence. Using his power, he molds a companion to keep him company; only, something goes awry and Starr soon proves to be as wild as the animals he’s crafted.
What do you do when the only other person in the universe hates you? You fall in love, of course…because that’s how forever begins.

Review:
Prelude as the name suggests is a prequel to Nely Cab’s (must read for the romantics out there) novel – Creatura.
Well first off can we all just take a moment and appreciate the GORGEOUS cover?! It is so damn good!

I’ll admit at first I was a bit confused, but hang on to it; it gets better.
With two very strong willed characters – Deus and Starr, Prelude gives us Creatura fans a little something to tide us over till the next book. I loved the book world created and the writing style flowed beautifully.
Although, not as obviously romantic as Creatura, Prelude has its charms.

What I take away from the book is this – Love is complicated, love is lethal, and hope saves us all.

Excerpt:
DAY 51
Seven weeks have passed. I’ve let time continue, but I haven’t moved an inch. I’ve been standing in the same green field staring at a motionless, crouching Starr. She’s a tiny and fierce wax statue again. I consult the voice of reason—my soul.
The voice of reason is the force that guides me. It’s within me, like a second person but without a body. It offers its wisdom, which is how I’ve been able to construct the Universe. But this voice, it also annoys me, and it won’t let me modify some things, including Starr.
No. This is her essence, and it cannot be changed, my inner self says in my head every time I so much as think to attempt it.
As I watch her, I know that I’m not afraid of Starr like the men of future Earth are afraid of their women. No. Not at all. What I am is truly and without a doubt horrified of her. I don’t know what to do.

In my hand, I materialize a baseball bat.

Creatura by Nely Cab Blog Tour: Review and Giveaway!! :D

I am so so excited to be a part of this blog tour hosted by Phenomenal Reviews and Author Stacey Rourke and the team!! I absolutely LOVED Creatura and I would recommend it to everyone who loves a good story! I could blabber all day but lets just get to it now! :P

 Creatura by Nely Cab

Blurb:
The sleeping aid did its job. I fell asleep within half an hour of taking it. I wish it hadn’t worked at all. I saw you with a little more detail this time. You’re a muscular human etch with a darkness about you. My heart raced as I watched you in the distance walking toward me, snarling. I slept a full five hours before you ran toward me menacingly and I woke in a cold sweat. The doctor wasn’t right about letting my dream play out. I’m more afraid than I had been in our previous encounters. I fear you, but I won’t live like this anymore. I’m going to confront you tonight. Tear me apart if you want, but you will haunt me no more.
My Review:
Creatura was just such an amazing read!! It had it all – Romance, Mystery, Action, Paranormal and even a little bit of Mythology. Creatura follows the story of Isis Martin who is plagued by insomnia and nightmares. Only her nightmares aren't just that... They are more, so much more... What follows is a series of events that left me at the edge of my seat and reading faster than ever! Isis comes to know about a whole other world and whole new experiences – which are exciting and scary too...
Nely Cab has created such an amazing book world its hard not to want to be in it... The place, the characters and everything else is described in such great detail that I could almost see it! This is one of the books that I would love to see as a movie – Oh it’d be so damn good!! I loved the author’s writing style too. It flowed beautifully and truthfully there was never a dull moment in the book! I loved absolutely loved the little notes *Sigh* (No I’m not telling what, to whom or anything else you’ll have to read to find out! ;] ) And not to forget the gorgeous cover and the significance behind it! <3
But the ending!! Oh the ending..... I sure hope the next one’s out soon! Like real soon!! Overall just AMAZING!
