Review for Book of Watchers by Mary Ting

Book of Watchers by Mary Ting

Blurb:

Enoch wants to live an ordinary life. He’s content to lie low, skip his college classes, and avoid committing to any one girl. But ordinary isn’t on the syllabus for Enoch because at night, he dreams of demons. Vivid dreams that leave him wanting escape more than ever. When they escape his dreams and attack him during daylight, his reality becomes a nightmare.

As he pieces together the meaning behind the encounters, supernatural creatures emerge. Demons. Vampires. Witches. Angels. And they all want something from him. In a supernatural world he never thought possible, Enoch uncovers a secret that either will destroy him or force him to become much more than he ever wanted.

Review:

I was so excited to read the new series by Mary Ting and she did not disappoint. Book of Watchers is full of mystery, suspense, drama, mythology, and supernatural creatures. What else could you ask for in a fantasy book?

I haven't read a book by her since I read Crossroads series. This book reminded me again why I love her books. Her writing style just draws you in and engages you in the story completely. I also really liked the characters.

I will admit, initially when I started the book I was a little confused with all the different characters and their connections to each other but I sorted it out as the book progressed. I was pleasantly surprised by the turn of events towards the ending of the book.

Overall, it was an enjoyable read and I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the books in the series!

NOTE: I was provided with an uncorrected ARC in exchange for an honest review, so I'm not really including comments on editing and such.
